I am pretty sure this was the villain origin story of the Phantom Virus from Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase. You know the dorky tech wiz side character that always has a sarcastic quip? This is what happens when they become the main character. Also what happens when a Stockholm syndrome victim becomes obsessive.

I ended up DNFing at about 80%. I don’t think it was the book, it was more that I got impatient. This was a longer book and I felt the pace was too slow for me right now. That is likely a me thing because my life has been so hectic. I liked the writing, and the premise was fun. I wanted to smack Cason several times because he was making stupid, childish decisions. Would still recommend.
